Amazon Kindle DX

The Amazon Kindle is Amazon's #1 bestselling item for two straight years. It is also the item that the most people add to their wishlist, the item that is gifted most often, and it has the most 5 star reviews of any item on Amazon's website!

The DX model of the Kindle is the next generation model. It has free 3G wireless access, so you can access new content from anywhere, even if you don't have an available internet connection. All you need is cellular reception on their network. It has a massive 9.7" display, making it extremely easy to read, even if you don't have very good vision. This is the largest Kindle model to date. It can hold approximately 3,500 books, so you willl probably never run out of space.

There are a few minor issues with the Kindle DX. First, some users say it is too big to hold comfortably. While the large size may be a benefit to some, other feel it is awkward. This is largely up to personal taste, however. Secondly, on the keyboard, the number keys have been merged with the letters, making it a bit unwieldy to type numbers. These issues are mostly trivial, and overall the feedback is very, very positive.

Amazon Kindle WiFi 6"

If you find the price tag on the Amazon Kindle DX unaffordable, take a look at the standard WiFi model. While you won't be able to access your content without a nearby WiFi internet connection, this won't be a problem for most users.

This device has a smaller display than the DX. It's only 6", rather than the 9.7" on the DX, however some people actually prefer the smaller size, because it's easier to hold and more portable, at about the same size as an average paperback book.

The battery life on this model is very good. Many people claim they can go 2-3 WEEKS without charging if they use their Kindle an hour or two per day. This means you probably won't have to worry about running out of batteries much unless you are using the wireless connection a lot. (Remember to turn off wireless when you don't need it.)

The one main flaw in this model is the fact that the contrast can be poor if you are in very dim light. This can make it hard to read if you're trying to get to sleep or you're in a car and don't want to turn on an overhead light. But this is a fairly minor flaw in an otherwise great device, and you can buy cases that come with a built-in light.
